In developing software, whether it is the development of the architecture, the code or both, I strongly focus on solutions that demonstrably meet the functional and non-functional requirements of the project. If this means developing a solution using Java, then Java it is. However I am equally happy developing a solution in C# or Python if these languages and their respective environments provide a better fit for the problem at hand and the customer's requirements.

My attitude to software development is a pragmatic one. Every step of it is important but not a goal in itself.

Expertise

I've developed large scalable backend systems using Java, C#, Python, Perl that interfaced with Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL databases. Used all major development and deployment environments such Windows, Unix (Solaris, Linux, FreeBSD), Apple OS X. I have worked for big multinational companies in large teams (40+ people), and for small companies with only a couple of people. Branches of industry I have worked in range from telecom, financial, automotive and journalism to the oil & gas industry. My attitude is flexible and pragmatic.
